Steptoes night club on Benidorm’s Calle Lepanto was the venue I visited whilst out and about this week to see Ricky Price perform an Elton John tribute under the alias Rocket Man.
This is a show for all Elton John enthusiasts as Ricky has studied the man to such an extent the looks, mannerisms and voice are very realistic.
The show was very energetic and incorporated a big screen showing DVD footage of the early days of Elton John which all added to a very well rehearsed and polished performance.
Ricky is no stranger to the business and has been performing on stage for over 25 years working at places which have included Butlins, Pontins and Haven to name but a few. He moved over to Spain a little over 11 years ago, spending 5 years in Marbella before heading north to Benidorm. This will be his sixth consecutive season at Steptoes where he is resident seven nights a week for 11 months of the year.
Despite the show being the first on, there was a good crowd who joined in with most of the numbers especially Crocodile Rock where Ricky got them trying to outdo each by dividing the audience into two and playing them off against each other to see who could make the most noise.

Ricky was born in February 1969 just outside Chester on the North Wales border he left school in 1986 and worked with bands (Curtains, Tarot & Jail bait) in and around the Chester area then in 1989 moved onto a solo career and started on the Northern cabaret circuit as a guitar vocalist performing at clubs, pubs & major holiday parks throughout the U. K. & Europe working with many stars and television personalities.
He played a part in the BBC Television drama Merlin of the crystal cave with Robert Powell but he prefers to play live on stage, he came 4th in the Spanish Entertainer of the year show in 1996 also that same year he wrote the music & lyrics for Heaven Scent Recording Duo based on the Costa Del Sol, he then moved onto performing the Elton John Tribute Show, then in 2000 married Tracey in St Lucia in the Caribbean they then got their mad moggy Daisy but she needed a friend so Ollie came along in 2004, In 2005 Ricky was privileged to be asked to open the charity concert for the Madrid bombings in Benidorm
