A high level of participation and a new world record for the 1500 m at the World Athletics Championship held in Valencia’s Indoor Arena.
The 2008 World Indoor Athletics Championship will take place at the Luis Puig Velodrome, remodelled especially for the occasion, with a seating capacity of 6500.
The different areas of the Trade Fair will also be used to house a wide range of services linked with the organisation of this event. Athletes will be staying within a 2 km radius of the velodrome and will train at the Jardin del Turia Athletics Stadium.
Around 800 athletes from 170 countries will be competing at the championships and 3500 special passes will be given out to members of the press, event organisers and other leading figures. The trials will be broadcast on 50 television channels around the world and the estimated audience figures are between 400 and 500 million viewers.
