SMART MOVE
VOCAL DUO
I witnessed a very polished show which included songs from The Bee Gees, Four Seasons, The Beach Boys and a few showstoppers from Broadway Musicals.
It is a feel good show which is a real audience pleaser and it is obvious the two lads enjoy singing this style of music. The close harmonies and falsetto voice compliment each other greatly and it is not hard to see why they are so popular.
They have been regulars on the Benidorm Circuit for the past 3 years although both Mark and David have been singing for over 20 years. Mark started off in a family act whilst David was the lead vocalist with a band. Since teaming up they have worked many places including 3 summer seasons at Blackpool which took in all the major venues and still winter months are generally taken up working on the top Cruise Liners all over the World.
You can catch Smart Move at the UK Cabaret Bar every Sunday Monday and Thursday at 21:15 but watch out for their new venture which will be around in the next couple of months which is called The Jersey Boys and will be a tribute to Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons which promises to be a hit!
This week I went down to the UK Cabaret Bar situated on Av Filipinas adjacent to the Presidente Hotel and caught up with Mark Harty and David Wenzel from the duo Smart Move.
SIMON SMALL
GEORGE MICHAEL EXPERIENCE
A Review by Nigel Turner
Simon Small has been on the Costa Blanca for over 10 years, working in bars, clubs and restaurants but has now turned to being an artiste.
He decided a few months ago to give karaoke a go and enjoyed so much and realised he had a talent for singing he put together a show which featured a George Michael tribute. The gamble worked and I have to say it was one of the best I have seen in a long time. Full marks have to go to Tony at the New Beatles bar for giving Simon the break he needed.
The show itself began with the song Faith and progressed into Fast Love followed by Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me. His finale is a medley of Wham favourites which was a definite audience pleaser.
This is an act worthy of a view if George Michael is your thing. You can catch Simon at the new Beatles Bar on the Yellow brick Road on Thursdays, Mitzi Munroe’s on Calle Gerona on Saturdays and I even spied him last Friday in Rockerfellas!
Simon is currently working on a new show ready for the autumn which will be more a general cabaret feel.
Nigel takes a look at someone who has been in Benidorm for some time now but has only recently ventured out into the showbusiness world with his George Michael Tribute Show.
